Lishan Xue, pianist

 

Lishan Xue was born in Shanghai. She made her solo debut when she was 6 years old in Shanghai Concert Hall. At age of 13, she recorded 2 VCD (as a demonstrator) of Czerny Left Study Op.718, published by Nanjing Audio & Video Music Publishing House. Her 2012 engagements and performance include soloist of Bartok Piano Concerto No.2 with
Sinfónica Juvenil Teresa Carreño, Venezuela, the Kennedy Center of Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and the Gilmore Keyboard Festival and Master Class.

In the past, she has received various prizes from regional, national and international competitions such as the 12th Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, the 17th Chautauqua International Piano Competition, the Baldwin Piano Performance Competition, 2nd National Young Artists Competition in U.S.A., and the 4th Gulangyu
Junior and Senior China National Piano (professional) Competition. When she competed in the 16th Queen Elizabeth Piano Competition in Brussels in 2010, music journalist Philip Dewolf specially wrote an article praising her performance. Her recital venues include Silmon Bolivar Hall, Venezuela, Shanghai Concert Hall, Beijing Concert Hall, China,
Webster Hall and Taylor Grand Theater in Joplin, U.S.A., Gross Saal in Prayner Musik and Drama Konservatorium, Vienna, and the Konzert Saal in Haydn Konservatoriurm, Eisenstadt, Austria.

Xue has also received invitations and scholarships to join various international music festivals and master classes held in China, Europe, and U.S.A., where she worked under the instruction of Fou Ts'ong, Russel Sherman, Menahem Pressler, Arie Vardi, Jerome Lowenthal, Solmon
Mikowsky, HongKuan Chen, Robert McDonald, Jerome Rose, David Lively, Anton Kuerti, Tigran A. Alikjanov, and Guillermo Gonzales.

Xue is also an active chamber music musician and a collaborative musician as well. Since 2011, she worked with Atar Arad, Milan Vitek, Mimi Zweig, Kevork Mardirossian, Daniel Perantoni, Thomas Robertello, Robert Walters, Daune Mahy, Thomas Walsh and Shigeo Neriki. She started teaching piano private lesson when she studied in middle school of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and the age range of her students from 5 to 65.  During her study in Oberlin College and Conservatory, she was a paid instrumental and vocal accompanist and also a teacher of secondary piano lesson. In 2014, She was invited to work for 2014 International Tuba and Euphonium Association and Conference, Indiana University “String Academy”.
She was awarded the Bachelor Degree of Music and Master Degree of Music of theShanghai Conservatory of Music in 2007 and 2011, studying  with Professor Minduo Li and Cheung-yu Mo. From 2009-2010, she studied in Austria with Professor Ralf Heiber and Sumi Cho. Since September 2011, as a recipient of the Oberlin Conservatory Dean
Talent Scholarship, she was awarded her Artist Diploma at the Oberlin Conservatory, studying with Professor Monique Duphil and also studying Fortepiano and Clavichord with Professor David Breitman. After her graduation in May 2013, as a recipient of the Artist Excellence Award, she further her education, working towards her 2nd Arist Diploma in Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University and study with famous Pianist and Professor Arnaldo Cohen.
