Cellist Christine LEE

Cellist JeongHyoun Christine Lee, a native of Seoul, Korea, was accepted into the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of ten, as one of the youngest students on record. As a soloist she has appeared with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, Korean Broadcast Symphony Orchestra, and Calgary Symphony Orchestra, among others, and has served as the Coprincipal of the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, Lee has performed in Europe and Asia with Curtis on Tour and was recently featured as a Young Artist at Music from Angel Fire and a Caramoor Rising Star at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. She recently performed with Juilliard’s contemporary ensemble, AXIOM, and has attended summer festivals such as the Taos School of Music, Encore, the Great Mountains Music Festival, Orford, and Hotchkiss Summer Portals. She has participated in Prussia Cove Master Classes with Ralph Kirshbaum and the Académie Musicale de Villecroze with Miklós Perényi. This summer, she was rewarded the Prix de la Musique de Chambre from Ecoles d’Art Américaines de Fontainebleau, where she worked with Christian Ivaldi and Philippe Entremont. Lee holds a bachelor of music from the Curtis Institute of Music and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Juilliard School with Joel Krosnick.
Since  September 2015, she is studying at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, Brussels,  under the direction of Gary Hoffman.


La violoncelliste JeongHyoun (Christine) Lee apporte au public, des moments musicaux puissants et innovateurs. Ses engagements récents vont de La Jolla SummerFest Fellowship Artist, à des récitals à New York, des masterclasses à la Kronberg Academy (Francfort) et à l’IMS Prussia Cove dans les Cornouailles ainsi qu’une collaboration sur la musique contemporaine avec Eighth Blackbird et Juilliard AXIOM. Au cours de la saison 2015 – 16, elle se produira avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Bergen et fera ses débuts en récital en Europe à l’Auditorium du Louvre à Paris. Depuis sa première prestation avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Séoul à l’âge de neuf ans, elle a également joué avec le Philadelphia Orchestra, le Korean Broadcasting Symphony, et le Calgary Symphony. Elle s’est également produite dans des concerts présentés par The New School: Schneider Concerts, Curtis 20/21 Ensemble, Columbia University’s Miller Theater, Alice Tully Hall (NYC), Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater, Library of Congress (D.C.), le Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, et Victoria Hall (Genève).

Ms Lee a été entendue sur la WQXR’s McGraw-Hill Financial Young Artists, WHYY “On Stage at Curtis”, et l’ American Public Media’s “Performance Today. Sa passion pour la musique de chambre lui donne l’occasion de se produire au festival Music @ Menlo (CA), le Seiji Ozawa Académie (Rolle), le Festival of Music from Angelfire (NM), et le Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts (NY). Elle a également collaboré avec des artistes tels que, Roberto Diaz, Pamela Frank, Ida Kavafian, et les membres du Quatuor Orion et du Quatuor Guarneri. Originaire de Séoul, en Corée, Ms.Lee a étudié avec Orlando Cole, Peter Wiley, et Carter Brey au Curtis Institute of Music (BM), et Joel Krosnick à la Juilliard School (MM). Depuis Septembre 2015, elle étudie à la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, sous la direction de Gary Hoffman.
